Waste Not

After the recent flood event, we collected a lot of sand bags filled with bedding sand.
So we put the sand to work as an experiment in nursery production of slips in order to solve some of our growing challenges.
Bedding sand is a building industry standard material, typically a naturally occurring material that has a high clay/fine silt content to ensure the material can hold its shape when used under concrete slabs, base for pipe laying.
Sand has a general pH of 0.5 - 0.7 and any clays present will bring it down because clay is pH 0.2 - 0.3. Since Vetiver tolerates a wide range of soil acidity and alkalinity (pH from 3.0 to 10.5) this mix should be OK.
Waste not.
