Planting Out at our new nursery block.

It takes longer than you think!

We planted out almost 1000 Vetiver slips in a weekend.

Our approach was very specific and experimental.

After laying down a mulch of woodchips, we crow-bared through that into the soil below creating a stabbed hole. After dropping in  slips of Vetiver, we sprinkled composted cow manure into each hole and hosed in.

We are finding that here in Beachmere, on so much sand masquerading as dirt, we need to ensure the Vetiver keeps moisture within reach. Along the foreshore we use the mulch to protect the plants from the salt spray.

This planting out was at our new nursery block.
