Bunching Vetiver for Harvest

There are many ways you can harvest your Vetiver tillers for mulch or fodder. You can cut the stems frequently to encourage more tillers. If you let the clump grow very large it can get cumbersome to handle.
Here's a tip from Colombia.
  • String together the whole, or sections, of the growing clump.
  • Then cut it at the base.
Cutting Vetiver tillers usually requires you to gather the stems in your spare hand as you cut, otherwise you must let the stems fall and you have to pick them up.
By tying the bunches beforehand, you get a neat stack of tillers that is easily transported.
